The
28th Millers Mutual Harrisburg Mile will be held Wednesday, July 21,
2010, beginning at 6 p.m. in Harrisburg. The race follows a one-mile
USA track and field certified course along Front Street, from the
starting line at Maclay Street to the finish line at Forster Street.
The Half Pint Half Mile will start just south of Hamilton Street. The event brings together an eclectic mix of participants, ranging
from competitive runners and roller skaters to families and active
seniors. All proceeds benefit youth and child care programs for the
East Shore Branch YMCA.
The Harrisburg office of Smith Barney founded the Harrisburg Mile in July of 1982. The leadership baton for the Harrisburg Mile has been passed to Millers Mutual, a long-time supporter of the area’s well-known event, which has developed into the area's largest race event.
With 13 different mile heats including a Half Pint Half Mile, Elite Mile,
Masters Elite, Corporate Challenge and Just for Fun Mile/Walk, the
event is a challenge for all ages and abilities. 
“The employees of Millers Mutual do much more than simply sponsor this event. They work hand-in-hand with us, making sure everything runs smoothly—from ordering race T-shirts to helping us put a brochure together. With their help, we’ve raised close to $410,000 over the years to benefit the kids at the Y,” says Chad Krebs, YMCA race director.
